As most of you know I have been at Inman Connect all week long. I have seen some incredible content and met some incredible people. Instead of my normal “how-to” marketing type posts I would like to begin a conversation that I hope will continue for some time.

The theme of this week is “the future.” There is some frustration over the state of the housing market but, the overwhelming atmosphere here is one of possibility as new tools and “best practices” are shown to eager conference goers.

While agent after agent walked by me today I became increasingly agitated at the incredibly positive conversations centered around the content presented this week.

Why?

There is an incredible amount of innovation and possibility in the Real Estate industry that seems to higlight the lack of innovation in the Mortgage Industry.

i sat down in a corner of one of the conference areas and pondered the implications this held for the Mortgage Industry. After a few moments and participating in a conversation with the other originators here, I have decided to host a discussion of the future of the Mortgage Industry here.

Over the next few weeks I will begin releasing conference calls with some of the incredible people I met here such as:

Each of those conversations will be centered around innovative ideas and best practices for the Mortgage Industry today. The goal of these conversations will be to spark new ideas for mortgage originators everywhere.

I hope you will actively join me in these conversations.

Please let me know what questions you may have for any of these individuals by using the comment section below. Who else would you like to hear from? What else can we do to push innovation in the mortgage industry?

Let the conversation begin.

I know exactly what you are talking about with regards to the lack of innovation in the mortgage industry. Looking forward to your interviews.

Daniel, Would love to have you and Nicole’s interview posted on the mortgage girlfriends site as well. k.

Looking forward to doing the interview, Dan. Maybe we’ll find out we’re related. :-) Nice meeting you at ICSF!

@karen we can probably make that happen! :)

I couldn’t agree with you more. The marketing possibilities for mortgage brokers goes way beyond trailing realtors around begging for loans. Especially, when most realtors these days are wondering when they are getting another commission check.

My 2 cents….

One on the problems I have seen in the 25 years I have been in the business is that LO’s have a tendency to let business come to them instead of making their own opportunites. Foreclosure bus tours, builders fairs, build on your lot seminars and FSBO websites are just some activites I have done in my career that were very profitable for all. Agents are desparate for leaders, information, and creative ideas. Spend lots of time on the web looking at the tools available to promote listings and marketing ideas. Control your agents. You do have a choice of who you work with!

Daniel: how are ya?

Looks to me like Inman Connect was a great time and very inspiring content-wise… I don’t doubt for a second that you’ll push the discussion in a positive direction opening things up to new ideas for a lot of people.

Looking forward to the interviews. With the growing trend in social media originators need to add this avenue as a marketing strategy in order to thrive in the future.
