- The Key to Password Management
I am going to start out with the methods I have used up until now and then share with you the single COOLEST method of password management I have ever experienced.
- I use Vortex Password Manager. It is easy to use and free. I am able to store the name of the service, the website, my username, my password, and, in the notes below, I can include security questions, comments, etc. This has come to my rescue countless times as I use it to manage 57 separate accounts!

- I have many friends who use Google Docs as a password manager. They have created one spreadsheet in their Google docs and have used it to store the same information as Vortex. The plus side to this method is: Google Docs is online and accessible form anywhere. So if you are on a trip, or just away from your computer but, need access to an account simply login from where you are and retrieve your information.
- Lastly, and probably the most intuitive and COOLEST approach is a “memory method.” It is a combination of the name of the account you are managing and a special code you have created. Let’s say you have a Google account and your special code is abc123. Then you might take the word Google and insert your code into that account name; for example: Gooabc123gle. Gooabc123gle would then become your new password! This can work for any account and is not likely to be easily forgotten by you! I heard this method from two people last week but, if I told you who they are, they would likely kill me.

My 2 cents…
http://www.roboform.com is the bomb… like $29, but totally secure and scrambled.
What makes it the bomb is the auto fill forms feature, store more than passwords (ie-auto fill name, address, ph, Credit Card, etc.) and creating profiles (ie-personal, mortgage, kids, marketing, etc.)
Passpack.com is a new breed of password managers - it’s online so your passwords go wherever you go without having to carry anything with you.

The first option that you suggested sounds pretty cool! Unfortunately, my password management system is pretty primitive. I started out with a notepad referencing all of my accounts…then I transferred it all into an excel spreadsheet. So you see, nothing overly creative; but it works for me.
My password management system: I have a memory like a steel trap!
